Trifecta: Week Sixty-Eight

On to the weekly prompt.

TIME (noun)
3a : an appointed, fixed, or customary moment or hour for something to happen, begin, or end <arrived ahead of time>
b : an opportune or suitable moment <decided it was time to retire> —often used in the phrase about time <about time for a change>

Time Has Come Today
Let us go out to play
That is the only way
That is better than any religion Okay
Okay is Okay and Okay is Okay

The doomsayer will turn grey
The enemy will continue to slay
The Church will continue to pray
The Governments will continue to stay
For Time Has Come Today

A friend yesterday is a friend today
A friend in deed is a friend all the way
Let us be friends today
Childbirth is here to stay
Children are staple, joyful, and gay
Children don’t know any other way
My girlfriends’ or wives lead the way
For Time Has Come Today

It is always today
No matter what anyone might say
Past, present, or future it is the same day
Time travel is the same day

Some people think about how they live a day
They think of how they can stay
Give it time and it is still the same day
A past, present or future day
Travel in time it is the same day
Past, present, future it is the same way
There is no direction but the same day

Time doesn’t matter to the planets stay
Time is no concern to angels all way
Time is no concern to any other creatures if they may
Time is only the concern today
Of those who lost their way
When times up and they can’t stay

Quality of life is their main stay
And they can’t do it the same way
Until that uneventful day
When Time Has Come Today

Because people have gone astray
In time constraints they lost the way
We can’t throw our clocks away
Controlled by time that is here to stay

  1. Very nice!

I enjoyed the rhythm in this piece - the voice it creates is so young and carefree at first, and then matures to the serious tone of the poem's end.

    I especially enjoyed:
Let us go out to play
    That is the only way
That is better than any religion Okay

The connection of "play" to "religion" and the early repetition of "okay".

    An intriguing authorial voice!

    1. Thank you. Years after Bible College I was a Communication major at Kaplan Online University. They stress the importance of creating your own voice. I have to credit Trefecta authors and others for helping me create the voice I have now.

Also, a master’s level Bible College Teacher said my songs are in the Hebraic tone and rhythm. If I remember it’s a 2-2-4. There are other tones and rhythms in the King James. I love the poetry in it. I had no idea what I learned from it.

  2. You are my favourite new voice at Trifecta. I love the rhythm of how you write. In a sea of seventy or eighty entries, it isn't always easy to read every story but, I make a point of looking for your link now and I have been delighted every single time. Keep singing your song, Brother! You leave me smiling.

    1. I am 59 years of age, started writing in 2001, and started Public Speaking at the age of 55. I used to be the strong silent type. Throughout public school I did not have anything to write or say. I could not even write about what I did during Summer Vacation. I thought, “Nothing” so I wrote nothing. But not literally.

  3. Reminds me of the Chambers Brothers' Time Has Come Today. Great rhythm.

    1. You are correct. I loved the long version of that song.
The topic was time and that song came to mind. That song is an inspiration to me. The time is come that they only get four minutes for a song. You remember, in the 60’s and 70’s it took four minutes for the band just to get warmed up!
